New Castle Christmas

Merry Christmas,
New Castle!

Downtown
Thursday night.

The cold air
shimmers
with Christmas music.

Their cheeks
are red.

Gloved fingers
on cold brass.

God Rest Ye
Merry Gentlemen!

Sitting on the curb
of Main Street
enjoying the tunes.

The Manger scene
is festive.

Horse-drawn
carriage rides
around the square.

Singing along to Rudolph...

One last song
before the big event...

Mayor Jim Small reads
'Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Dads...

Moms...

Teens...

Little ones...

We all listen
to the timeless story
together.

Now the big moment!

Jingle those bells!

The lighting of the tree!

- We've had a problem.
says Mayor Small.

When we opened
the closet this morning
we only had
one small strand of lights
that worked....

Luckily,
our friends
at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Home
came to the rescue...

....with three full strands
of Christmas lights!

The night is saved!

The tree is lit!

Kids run right up
to admire
the Funeral Home lights.

New Castle
glows
with the cheer
of small town Indiana.

And the carriage
spins its last ride
of the night...

...to the sweet
closing notes
of Midnight Clear.
