Planting Trees with Professor Pricklethorn

We stop
to plant
trees
with
Professor
Pricklethorn...

on our
biking
way
to
Monticello.

We park
at
Columbia
Elementary
School...

and
here
come
the kids!

We
have
little trees
for them...

and
water
bottles

and
books...

But
who is
this
Professor
Pricklethorn...

and
why
is he
here?

He is
here
to teach you
all
about
trees!

What's
so
special
about
trees?

Who
know
the
answer?

I do!

I do!

Trees
give
us
food....

and
shelter....

Homes
for
the
animals....

and
shade
for
tired
bikers.

Trees
clean
our
air...

and
our
water.

and
sometimes
trees
provide
parking,
too.

And
don't
forget....

how
much....

trees
are
just....

...beautiful!

You're
all
right!
says
the professor.

Trees
are
wonderful!

Now
let me tell you
about
the wonder
of
Photosynthesis.

You
have
the sun
here....

and
a
leaf....

has
the
chlorophyl.

Add
water...

and
the
sometimes
bad
CO2

and you
get
fresh
clean
wonderful
air!

Don't
you
just
love
trees?!

So
let's
plant
one.

Right here
at your
school!

An
oak
tree...

The
King of
the
Forest.

Biker Dave
leaps in
to help
plant
the tree.

mulch
it

and
give it
water.

Now it's time
for the special
Pricklethorn
tree
blessing.

Clap
your hands
over your head.

Rub them
and
get them
warm

Now
send all that
warmth
down
to
the tree.

calling
out
as loud
as you can....
Grow,
Tree,
Grow!

Call it so
loud
they can
hear you
in
Canada!

And now
let's
sing
to our
tree...

All we are
saying...

is
give trees
a
chance...

---------

I suppose you
realize
this whole time
I've been
on the ground
to take
these
pictures.

Now the kids
crowd
around
looking
down
at me...

We have bikes, too!

I've biked
to
Fork Union
and
back!

So
wonderful
to see these
kids
take pride
in their biking
and
their trees.

Now
it's time
for
us bikers
to bike on...

But
we leave
behind
us....

a
new
tree....

and
new
dreams...

nurtured
by
the
inimitable...

Professor
Pricklethorn!
