The Long Drive South

Good-bye,
good-bye
TJ,
my son!

It's
time
to
pack
Beluga-car...

do
the
last
laundry...

the
last
wrestle
with
your sis...

Don't
forget
your
machete!

Looking
at the
calm
Brixton
pond...

It's hard
to
believe
I"m taking you
to a
hurricane!

But
it's time
to say
good-bye
to
Dad...

Good-bye
to
little
Walter...

Good-bye
to
the
Stubbs...

Good-bye
to
old
Dusty!

And
we
hit
the
road...

Wait!

We'll need
new
wiper
blades!

for
the
storms
of
Mississippi!

Last
stop -

The
Bank...

and
we're
finally
on the
road!

We
have
many miles
to
go...

through
Kentucky...

and
Tennessee...

to
Alabama
for
tonight!

Luckily
Al
burned us
a
Mississippi
CD...

And
I've got
a
Smart
Phone....

for
those
road trip
essentials!

Finally
we
arrive
at the
first
night's
hotel...

In time
for a
spectacular
sunset!

He's
leaving
home
for the
first time...

Who knows
what
TJ's
thinking?

(he
doesn't talk
much)

And I'm
not
even sure
what
I'm
thinking...

when
I
think
about....

the
impending
empty
nest.

  1. I can predict what was happening in that wrestling pic =P TJ was on the ground petting the most beautiful cat ever when Al came and sat on him scaring my kitty away! Cute pic of Walt and Stubs by the by =) And T Dot has left home! =O Sho exciting!

  2. Beautiful. My nest is empty as of a week ago. I love my independence, but it's been an adjustment. How soon is too soon to call. Is it OK to text him? We are all adjusting.
Wouldn't have it any other way, but it is still hard.

  3. The cats (and Tom!) will help with the Empty Nest problems. And suddenly you will realize you can wake up and say, "Wow, I think I'll go to Canada this weekend." And you can because there are no games, or school events, or swim meets... so sad, yet oddly freeing.
