Training for the RAIN
Al
is training
for the
RAIN
ride!
160
miles
across
Indiana...
One way.
One day.
It's
a
crazy
thing.
Lots
of
testosterone!
I don't
need
to do it.
I've
done it
five
times.
It's
Alex's
turn.
So
I'll show
her
the
ropes.
75
92
130 miles
We bike
harder
each day.
Building
those
muscles...
that
endurance!
I teach
her
biking
skills...
Tom
teaches
her
mechanics.
Blue Jay
helps...
by starting
his day
with
a
flat tire.
Ripley
(my bike)
gets some
help,
too.
We
start
off
early
this
training
day...
biking
through
town...
and
out
into the
countryside.
We hit
a little bit
of
rain...
but
we
are
tough!
No
stopping
these
RAIN
riders!
Unless
there's
fun
to be
had...
Yes,
Al and I
have
to visit
Medusa's
Garden...
...for
old
time's
sake.
And
I stop
to
visit
flowers.
We
visit
with
goats.
Al
visits
the
ladies
room.
Spinning off
the miles...
getting
ready
for
RAIN...
Stopping
at
the
Brownsburg
gas station...
talking
with
the
locals...
a
bit
of
lunch...
a
bit
of
stretch...
And
we're
off
to finish
the
miles...
We
get
a
little
bit
lost....
But
then
we find
a new
way.
Each
ride
we
get
exhausted...
Can
we
really
go
more
miles?
But
each
day
we
start
out
stronger...
more
powerful...
more
fit...
But
can
she
do....
160 miles
one way
one day...?
We'll
find
out....
...tomorrow.
