Biking to the Summit

How do
you
get to
The
Summit?

Not
by
car,
says
Al.

Especially
when
this
year's
Summit...

is
in
Missouri...

Just
400 miles
from
home!

The
Summit
is an
incredible
annual
event...

Different
sites
every
year...

Same
amazing
experience.

Colorado
Rockies.

Lake
Tahoe.

The
Adirondacks.

For
15 years
my
family...

has
looked
forward
to....

the
Nature
Family
Summit.

But
never
before...

have
we
biked
to it!

So
we
strap
on
our
helmets...

zero
out
our
Cateyes...

(so we
can
measure
our
miles)

and
we
head
west.

But
what
about
our
luggage?

KC
will
bring
it
in the
Prius!

Good-bye
to
Dad
and
Dusty...

and
off we
go
across
the wilds
of
Indiana...

We
have
adventures...

We
see
charming
small
towns...

we
see
lots
of
corn...

We
get
chased
by
dogs

and
more
dogs...

and
more
dogs!

We
get
lost....

More
than
once....

And
then
we end up
on
gravel
roads.

Long
gravel
roads...

But
look
what
we
find!

We're
in
Parke
County,
Indiana...

Covered
Bridge
Capital
of the
World!

It's
a
beautiful
ride...

but
we've
been
78
miles....

and
it's
hot...

It's time
to find
our
hotel
for the
night.

How
appropriate!

Time
for
well-deserved
food...

and
bed...

We
have
many
miles
to go...

tomorrow!
