This is
why
I came
to
Florida...
I got a
Groupon
coupon...
Yeah, Groupon -
the guys
with the
obnoxious
Super Bowl ad...
So I get
this coupon
for a Nature
Photography
Workshop!
And off I go
to St Pete!

After all,
if I can learn
to take pictures
like this...

... or
like
this...
...it will
be worth it!

Of course,
it could
be
dangerous!
But I laugh
in the face
of danger!
My morning
starts
soft
and
clear....
A single
gull
fills
the sky.
My morning stretches
include
my trigger finger...
...must be
ready
for photo
learning!
We spend
the morning
in a
lecture room...
We learn
about
gear...
We oooh
and
ahhhh
over
Jason's
big lens...
I begin
to drift off
over my notes...

Then he shows
his bird pictures!

We all
sit up!

I love
the capture
of a wing
in flight!
How does
he do that?
It's time
to learn!!
Out to our cars...
...and we drive
to Ft Desoto
for our
active lesson!
Little
do we
realize...
...how
bloody cold
it can get
in Florida...
...now that
climate change
has
breached
the arctic fence.
But
we are
Checking
our
focus...
There's
only
one
problem...
There
aren't
any birds!
The wind
whips
hair
and
scarves...
It lashes
the waves
into spray...
It sprays
sand
sizzling
past my feet.
I follow
a fellow
photo-buff...
...past
the dry dune
trees...
Look!
It's a bird!
Everyone
comes
running...
Poor guy
can't even
eat a starfish
in peace!
I wander
out on the
sands...
...farther
and farther
from the
crowds...
I hear
a lonely
bird
call...
When I turn
around...
I'm alone.
They've all gone
to find
the sunset
at the
southern pier.
I'm left
with
the wind...
...and
a single
gull...
... to find
a sunset..
..of my own...
eh i prefer Kitty pictures =) birds aren't that exciting =P but good photos! and I love Jason's!
ReplyDeleteKitties - birds - its all about enjoying life.
ReplyDeleteExcellent blog. I live in Sarasota and I enjoy visiting Ft. Desoto. My next trip will be to the north beach to try and photograph Royal Terns. Love all the photos here. Wishing you the best.
