KC in Cairo

We interrupt
this blog
for an update
on KC.

So I was
all ready
to post a blog
about Alex
going back to college...

...and more blogs
about the
snow
and
cold
in Indiana...

...and blogs
about my trip
to St Petersburg
for biking...

...and
photography.

But now
I have to write
about KC...

...because she's
in the middle
of a
revolution!

It starts
so
innocently...

 Study abroad

...a boat trip
on the Nile...

....and
street kitties.

Luckily I
Facebook-
friend Ian,
a guy
in her program
who takes great pictures!

It's all
a great
adventure...

...until
Tuesday -
Police Day.

Inspired
by Tunisia...

Empowered
by Facebook
and Twitter...

The Egyptians
take to the streets
to demand
Freedom!

Tear gas!

Rubber coated bullets!

Water cannons!

Police who torture.

Tanks rolling
under her balcony.

Their apartment
guarded
by neighbors
with metal sticks
and dogs.

Their
apartment
shakes
from the screams
of fighter jets...

.....threatening
the crowds.

Facebook
and
Twitter...

Email
and
cell phones...

...all shut down
by a government
that doesn't want
the world
to see...

Tom and I
are glued
to the Internet.

Aljazeera
brings us
news of Cairo
24 hours a day.

And
we hear
from KC!

Her program
is evacuating
the kids....

Tomorrow
they fly
to Greece...

...if they
can get
to the airport.

Kitty
is
worried...

  1. Where did you get that traffic photo? Looks like they've been stuck since 1969!
